Usable items may be donated
Furniture, small appliances, housewares, tools, and decor may be donation candidates when they are clean, usable, and accepted by local organizations. Donation rules change by condition and location, so not every item can be donated. Still, separating usable items before pickup gives them the best chance of finding another home.
Recycling depends on the material
Metal, cardboard, some appliances, and certain renovation materials may have recycling paths. The crew looks at what the item is made of, how clean it is, and whether a facility can accept it. Mixed loads are harder to recycle, so grouping similar items can help.
Some items still need disposal
Broken, unsafe, stained, or contaminated items may have to be disposed of. The goal is not to pretend every item can be saved. The goal is to route the load responsibly and avoid unnecessary waste when better options are available.
How customers can help
Tell the crew what is still usable and what is broken. Keep donation items separate from trash when possible. Mention appliances, electronics, metal, cardboard, and hazardous items in advance. Responsible hauling works best when the customer and crew both know what is in the pile.
